⚡Iron Mike is Back

Good morning and happy Monday!

We are 1 month and 8 days away from the next Bitcoin halving cycle and with every cycle typically comes a significant increase in price!

For those of you that want to try and understand it before it happens and passes you by again, I’ll briefly explain in basic terms.

Bitcoin miners solve incredibly complex equations and by doing so, they validate blocks on the network. When these equations are solved and a block is confirmed, the miner(s) that solved it are rewarded in BTC. This is because the miners must expend an immense amount of computing power to solve these equations.

What does any of that mean?

Simply put, the Bitcoin network and any other blockchain is a massive database. Instead of one entity or a group of entities (like a bank) deciding what is truth in the database, blockchains aim to decentralize that power.

So, what is a halving cycle?

This is when the amount of BTC that is rewarded to the miners for solving a block is cut in half!

Now, you don’t need to be an econ major to understand how this works. Just compare the economics of Bitcoin to the economics of the US dollar…

Your US dollars devalue over time because the Federal Reserve continues to increase the money supply over time. As we all know, this is called inflation.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, has a hard-coded maximum supply. As time goes on, halving cycles occur to account for the fact that new Bitcoin isn’t created and distributed.

Less BTC injected into the economy over time = less supply and more demand. This is especially prevalent when the market has as large a market capitalization as BTC. ($1T<)

I’m not a financial advisor and I have never claimed to be. But if you are someone that is still on the fence about BTC, just do yourself and everyone who loves you a massive favor and look into this stuff.

We are in the midst of a technological revolution, start learning or fall behind!

Streaming & Entertainment

Iron Mike Back in The Ring

This July, the sports world is set to witness something straight out of a fever dream: Jake Paul squaring off against Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout at Jerry World, streamed live on Netflix.

Yeah, you read that right. It's a spectacle that screams 21st-century entertainment, with Vine and YouTube alumni reshaping our content consumption habits.

Jake Paul, love him or loathe him, has mastered the art of staying in the spotlight since his YouTube days, now stepping into the ring with none other than Iron Mike Tyson. But let's not get too carried away. Jake's in the prime of his life, having dedicated the last few years to honing his boxing skills, while Tyson, the legend himself, is 57 and hasn't been in a pro fight since 2005. His last exhibition? A lukewarm dance with Roy Jones Jr. that ended in a draw.

And let's not forget, Tyson's been spotted with a cane, courtesy of a pesky sciatica. So, what's the deal? Is this bout a genuine contest or just a well-orchestrated cash grab, banking on Tyson's legacy and Paul's knack for stirring the pot?

Here's where Jake Paul shines - he keeps us guessing. Whether you're tuning in to see him potentially topple a heavyweight icon or get a taste of his own medicine, Paul knows how to pull a crowd. And Netflix, dipping its toes into the "sportstainment" waters with Wrestlemania and celebrity golf matches, is all too eager to ride this wave. They're crafting an entertainment hybrid that blurs the lines between sports and spectacle.

As a sports enthusiast, I'm here for it. Netflix's move into live sports entertainment might just signal a shift in how we engage with these events, pushing platforms like YouTube to the sidelines. It's a battle for the soul of online content, and we're all front-row spectators, one click away from the next big thing in entertainment. So, grab your popcorn, this fight is as much about the future of streaming as it is about the bout itself.

1990: Lithuanian Independance

In 1990, Lithuania cast a historic vote to break away from the USSR, setting off a domino effect that would eventually lead to the Soviet Union's unraveling. As the first Soviet republic to declare independence, Lithuania's bold move was a clear signal that change was imminent. It's astonishing to think that the dismantling of such a colossal empire began just 34 years ago, reshaping the geopolitical landscape in a way that still echoes today.

Crypto Going Political

The crypto world is stepping into the political arena, and they're diving in headfirst. A trio of super PACs, spearheaded by big names like Coinbase's Brian Armstrong, is throwing serious cash into key races across Ohio, Montana, Michigan, and Maryland. It's about time the industry made some noise in the political sphere, especially in the wake of the FTX collapse and Sam Bankman-Fried's financial escapades across the political landscape.

For too long, discussions around crypto in Congress have felt like a broken record, with a chorus of skeptics dismissing it as the playground of scammers. It's high time we moved past the outdated views of figures like Elizabeth Warren, who seems to see crypto as nothing but a digital den of thieves.

But let's be real, memeing politicians into oblivion on social platforms might get a few laughs, but it doesn't move the needle where it counts. If we want to see real change, it's about putting our money where our mouth is, even if it means playing by the less-than-ideal rules of a pay-to-play system.

Are the leaders of these PACs the selfless heroes of the crypto narrative? That's up for debate. What's not debatable is the $78 million they're pouring into the political machine. This isn't just about buying influence; it's about opening doors to serious conversations and, hopefully, sensible legislation. It's a long road ahead, no doubt, but at least we're finally on the map, and that's a start worth rallying behind.
